As a writer, what was one of the coolest/best gifts you ever received?

Insecure Writers Want to Know

A short post for this month’s Insecure Writers Support Group question. The holidays are upon us and my schedule is demanding. The baking. The shopping. The family and friends. Creating memory books for the children from the trips we have taken this year. The parties. And today, we have a snow storm. You know what that means.

Yes!

I need to go outside and… [wait for it!] make a snowman.

But to answer this month’s Insecure Writers Support Group’s question about the coolest writerly gift I have received this year, it would have to be my new tea mug in the artistic shape of a stack of colorful books. My husband bought it for me when my first book, Determination: A Mother of Five Conquers College, was published in May. The cover of Determination is a stack of colorful college text books.

Determination: A Mother of Five Conquers College

In fact, Determination: A Mother of Five Conquers College would be an excellent holiday gift item for anyone who needs to discover how to conquer college while raising a family, or anyone who has difficulty in believing in herself. An exceptional value at only $12.99 for the paperback edition from Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/Determination-Mother-Five-Conquers-College/dp/B0F4DQFDH3 I have many books on MY Christmas list. Books always make the best gifts!

So, my dear IWSG friends, what was the coolest gift you ever received as a writer? I can’t wait to read about it.

  1. YES! I hope you built an epic snowman. You know, this season is a bit insane, but it will end before you’re ready. (Says the mom with only two kids remaining at home.) It’s stressful, but I hope you can enjoy some of it.

    Merry Christmas!

    • Yes, Crystal, Christmas is quite hectic. It ALWAYS came before I was ready. Looking back I don’t know how I did it with five kids at home and attending college. Yikes!

I thoroughly enjoyed building my snowman, but I missed my kids helping me. And the grandchildren are too little to be of much help. Enjoy your time with your family. Before you know it, they will ALL be grown and leave home.

    • Thank you, Sarah. Yes! I totally understand the “too many mugs” problem. We have that in our house, too. But this stacked books mug? I use it every day.

      Have a beautiful holiday!

  2. Hi,
Books do make great gifts. I hope you find time to read, and then also to make a snowman.
Have a blessed Christmas and safe crossing over into 2026.

  3. That’s a great mug. Is it difficult to clean?
Friendships with fellow authors are definitely valuable!

Don’t miss an opportunity to write why you like (or dislike) a book!
Have a wonderful holiday season. ⭐

    • The stacked books mug is easy to clean, Lenni. It’s glass. No inner lining. Friendships are totally needed in life. Especially for writers. Have a great holiday!
