Victoria loves trees!
Tree-hugging is hereditary.

Victoria Marie Lees is a wife, a mother of five, and a teacher. She’s camped with her family of seven for over twenty years. She’s also an award-winning poet and author. She has published in Chicken Soup for the Soul, Business Insider, and national magazines and anthologies. She leads writing workshops at libraries and online adult learning centers on various topics in fiction, memoir, and poetry. And she helps beginning writers, one-on-one, to hone their skills.

Victoria earned her B.A. in English from the University of Pennsylvania and has recounted her college experiences as a mother of five, the trials, the heartache, and the humor, in a new memoir. Determination: A Mother of Five Conquers College has recently been released.

You can find her poetry at The Poets Billow and personal essays about camping and college at Business Insider online. She shares family camping anecdotes at her blog Camping with Five Kids, and offers writing tips at her Adventures in Writing blog.

Family is important to Victoria. And so is the peace found in nature. When she isn’t writing, she’s hugging trees with her children. She’s exploring mountains and forests, hiking the trails with family. Visiting state and national parks, camping and trying to get her grandchildren to eat something made at a campfire. One thing’s for sure. She finds inspiration for her creative work from family adventures and nature.

But what keeps Victoria Marie going, you might ask? Okay, she admits it: dark chocolate [lots and lots of dark chocolate!] and homemade cookies and pies which she makes with her kids and grandkids. The baked treats are enjoyed with a fresh pot of tea. Except during Lent! *Grumble* She gives up the treats until Easter.

What keeps Victoria writing
Oh, and by the way, her family thinks Lent is too long.
